编者按：2016年4月23日，探讨亚洲胸外科合作的第一次协商会议在北京召开，由 AME 出版社和 Medtronic 创伤外科联合举办。本次会议邀请了亚洲各国/地区的胸外科专家，共同讨论联合亚洲，建立胸外科协会的可能性。编者在会议后，采访了来自香港大学医学院的 Dr. Alan Sihoe。
这一次的协商会议由 Dr. Sihoe 主持。他在会议上发问，总结，一整天都在说话。采访时可以听到他的声音有些沙哑，但他十分配合我们的采访，让小编很感动。让小编更感动的是，Dr. Sihoe 在采访中好几次提到医生最重要的职责是救治病人，没有其他。他自己医术了得，学术上的成就也颇多。问他自身成就有哪些，他说作为一名外科医生，能治愈病人就是最大的成就。他对立志成为外科医生的年轻医师说，一定要把病人摆在首位。所有伟大的医生都有一个共同点，他们都心系病人，一直问自己“我可以为这个病人做什么，我有更好的治疗方案吗”。 总而言之，医生需时刻谨记救治病人这一原则。只有对医生的职责有了正确的认识，并投入其中，才有可能取得成功。
Did you always know you wanted to become a surgeon, or is that something that happened along the way?
What do you think is your greatest accomplishment so far in your area？
What are the biggest challenges for those who are embarking on a career as a surgeon? What advices would you like to give to those potential surgeons?
AME is going to publish a new book entitled Lung Cancer Precision Medicine. What do your think about this new book/treatment?

Dr. Alan Sihoe is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of the Departments of Surgery at the University of Hong Kong, and the Chief of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital in Shenzhen, China. He is also an Honorary Consultant in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong.
Dr. Sihoe received his medical training at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, where he was awarded multiple prizes and where he received an Honours degree and a Masters degree for research in Pathology. After working in Scotland and England, he completed his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery in Hong Kong under the mentorship of Prof Anthony Yim.
Dr. Sihoe is a recognized expert and advocate of ‘next generation’ minimally invasive thoracic surgery techniques – especially uniportal and needlescopic chest surgery. He is a frequent Invited Lecturer and Faculty member at conferences and surgical education events throughout Asia, Europe and North America, sharing his experiences in these advanced thoracic surgical techniques. His many research interests include pain reduction and air leak management strategies following pulmonary operations. Dr Sihoe has published extensively, and has won or been short-listed for multiple awards in thoracic surgery and clinical research.
