编者按:AATS Focus on Thoracic Surgery: Lung and Esophageal Cancer 2016于2016年3月19-20日在上海完美落幕。本次会议,胸外科名家云集,内容紧凑充实。会中,AME出版社的编辑很荣幸能邀请到来自Memorial Sloan-Kattering Cancer Center(美国史隆凯特琳癌症研究中心)胸外科主任教授David R. David R. Jones, M.D.

Professor & Chief, Thoracic Surgery Service, Fiona & Stanley Druckenmiller Chair of Lung Cancer Research, Vice Chair Quality and Safety, Department of Surgery, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Professor, Weill Cornell Medical College, New York

Dr. Jones graduated Phi Beta Kappa from West Virginia University and received his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed his Thoracic Surgery Residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC. In 1999, Dr. Jones joined the faculty at the University of Virginia where he became Professor and Vice-Chairman of the Department. In 2013 Dr. Jones was recruited to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) as Chief of Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Jones is Druckenmiller Endowed Professor and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at MSKCC and Vice-Chair of Quality in the Department of Surgery. He is also the Co-Director of Fiona and Stanly Druckenmiller Center for Lung Cancer Research. Dr. Jones is Associate Editor for the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He serves on the Council for the American Association for Thoracic Surgery and is President-elect of the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association. He is the Examination Chair for the American Board of Thoracic Surgery where he has been a Director for 6 years. He is the current Chair of the Tumor Progression and Metastasis (TPM) study section at the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Jones’s research focuses on mechanisms and drivers of metastases in lung cancer. His research has been funded by the NIH/NCI, Department of Defense, and the AACR, among others. He has been the Principal Investigator or Co-PI on over 28 funded grants. He has published over 230 papers and has written over 35 book chapters.
